MOSS BLUFF, LA – On Monday, Calcasieu Parish sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an assault, where they found a woman suffering from stab wounds. A brief investigation led to the arrest of Gerardo Calix-Arteaga, 38.
The American Press reported:
The victim told deputies after she was stabbed, she was held against her will and raped by Arteaga. She stated she was eventually able to flee the residence and go to a house nearby for help.
The woman was transported to a local hospital and treated for her injuries.
Arteaga was apprehended with the help of K9 Shadow and his handler Sr. Cpl. Bryan Stewart in the woods, close to where the brutal assault took place.
Arteaga was charged with false imprisonment, aggravated battery, first-degree rape and resisting arrest. He is currently being held on an ICE detainer at the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
