CHESAPEAKE, VA - In the early morning hours of December 14, 2022, Brayan Josue Flores-Torres, 23, was stopped by police after he was observed driving erratically.
During the traffic stop, Flores-Torres pulled a knife on the arresting officer and stabbed him. He tried to flee the scene, but was soon taken into custody by another officer.
Flores-Torres was charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, malicious wounding, disregarding a police command to stop, brandishing a firearm and DWI. He is currently being held at the Chesapeake Correctional Center on an ICE hold.
The Mexican national has been convicted of many of the charges and is scheduled to go on trial for attempted murder next week (December 5, 2023).
This nearly fatal assault of a police officer took place a year ago, and not one report of the crime has appeared in either local or national media.
This reporter was recently tipped off to this incident by a member of local law enforcement.
