On September 18, Zagada was arrested on a warrant out of Stanly County (NC) for the above charge. He was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail at 7:20 pm on $5,000 bail and released on September 19 at 1:11 pm the following day...less than 18 hours after he was booked, after easily making bail.
This was only the illegal alien's latest arrest and quick release in Mecklenburg County, thanks to 'sanctuary sheriff' Garry McFadden.
On October 13, 2020. Zagada was arrested on two counts of indecent liberties with a child and booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail at 4:39 pm. He was released the following day at 11:17 pm on $5,000 bail...roughly 31 hours after his arrest.
Since taking office, Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden has made it official policy, not to cooperate with U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), by not allowing MCSO deputies to inquire into any suspect's immigration status, nor will the sheriff honor ICE detainers.
So, accused rapists, child molesters, car thieves, drunk drivers, etc., in this country illegally are being released back onto the streets of Mecklenburg County, if they make bail. Sheriff McFadden refuses to release any information on the number of illegal aliens who actually show up for their court dates after being released, but the number is said to be less than 10 percent, according to court insiders.
Of course, the more serious the nature of the charge, the less likely prosecutors are to ever see the suspect again, at least until he or she commits another crime.
McFadden has even released at least one illegal alien homicide suspect.
