NACO, AZ - Last week, U.S. Border Patrol agents working out of the Brian A. Terry Station apprehended Israel Hernandez-Zarate, 36, who was traveling with a group of illegal aliens.
During processing, it was discovered that the Mexican national is a convicted sex offender.
In a news release, the U.S. Border Patrol Tucson Sector stated:
In 2004, he was convicted of felony 3rd degree sexual assault in Eau Claire County, WI.
At the time he was taken into custody by Border Patrol agents, he had an active warrant for his arrest in Wisconsin.
He is facing a charge of felony re-entry after deportation, and if convicted, could receive up to 20 years in federal prison.
