RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA - On Thursday, Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin announced that his office had filed a list of new charges against accused serial rapist, Jose Manuel Martinez Garcia, 36.
In a press release, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office stated:
Jose Manuel Martinez Garcia is charged with physically and/or sexually assaulting six women in the Coachella Valley area from September 2020 to August 2021. The attacks included three victims being strangled to unconsciousness and two incidents in which the victim was struck by the defendant’s pickup.
In one of those, the victim sustained a broken leg. She was left injured in a ditch in Thermal for several days before being found and given medical assistance.
Garcia was charged with four counts of attempted murder, three counts of forcible rape, two counts of sodomy by force, kidnapping, attempted kidnapping along with several other charges. He is currently being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Center without bail.
The Mexican national has lived in other parts of California, and investigators believe he has many more victims around the state, according to D.A. Hestrin.
Garcia is next scheduled to appear in court on February 15, 2022.
