On June 7, 2023, CBS News 17 located in Raleigh, NC, ran a story entitled “Hoke County Man Charged With Indecent Liberties, Child Sex Offense.”
Upon reading this piece, this reporter phoned the Hoke County Jail in Raeford, NC, and spoke to a deputy, who informed me that the suspect did in fact, have an ICE detainer lodged against him.
My next question was why would “a Hoke County man” have an ICE hold?
When we both stopped laughing, the deputy said: “Maybe you should ask the media about that one!”
So, I did (or at least attempted to).
After several phone calls, no one at CBS News 17 (919-836-1717) has returned my messages, including Joe Jurney, the author of the lie of omission.
What follows is the actual story on the “Hoke County Man”...

Charge(s): Two Counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child and Felony Statutory Sex Offense with a Child
In a press release, the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office stated:
Deputies were called to the 1400 Block of Darby Drive in reference to a report of a sex offense. During the course of the investigation from 2022, a total of three juvenile victims reported being sexually assaulted by the suspect on multiple occasions.
Gonzalez is currently being held at the Hoke County Detention Center on $125,000 bail and an ICE detainer.
