YUMA, AZ - On May 21, U.S. Border Patrol agents took Juan Alonso-Perez, 35, near the intersection of County 18th Street and Levee Road after observing him illegally cross into this country.
During processing, agents discovered that the Mexican national was a convicted felon, who had been previously deported.
In a news release, U.S. Border Patrol Yuma Sector stated:
Record checks revealed Alonso-Perez was convicted in 2010 in Anderson, Indiana for child molestation and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Alonso Perez served four years behind bars and was formally removed from the U.S. upon his release.
Alonso-Perez is facing a charge of felony re-entry after deportation, and if convicted, could receive up to 20 years in federal prison.
