TUCSON, AZ - On October 19, U.S. Border Patrol agents working out of the Nogales station apprehended Duvani Lopez-Lopez, 20, after observing him crossing into this country illegally.
Upon processing, it was discovered that the Guatemalan citizen is a registered sex offender in the state of Minnesota, according to U.S. Border Patrol, Tucson Sector.
In October 2021, Lopez-Lopez was convicted of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in Worthington, Minnesota. The victim was a 13-year-old girl.
On October 28, 2021, The Globe reported:
Lopez-Lopez entered a guilty plea and was placed on four years of supervised probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.
He was deported shortly after sentencing.
Lopez-Lopez now faces a charge of felony re-entry after deportation, and if convicted, could receive up to 20 years in federal prison.
