PENDER COUNTY, NC - Last week, Esteban Pino Sanchez, 21, was sentenced in Pender County Superior Court, to between 16 and 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping a 10-year-old girl in 2017.
In August 2017, the victim told her mother that Sanchez had assaulted her. He was reportedly a friend of the family, and had easy access to the girl.
He was originally charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a child, two counts of sexual battery, one count of sex offense with a child and one count of rape.
Sanchez lived in Rocky Point and was reportedly working for a landscaping company at the time of his arrest.
