Illegal Alien Drug Trafficker Wanted In Two Counties For Child Sexual Assault

ROWAN COUNTY, NC – On May 15, Maynor Javier Yanez-Basquez, 32, was turned over to sheriff's deputies in Rowan County, where he was wanted for multiple counts of child sexual assault. Only, a day earlier, he had been booked in Catawba County for felony kidnapping, felony statutory sex offense with a child under the age of 15, and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.


On March 11, Yanez-Basquez was taken into custody by Alexander County sheriff's deputies during a traffic checkpoint, and discovered to be driving without a license. A search of his vehicle turned up 8.5 grams of methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of heroin and a large amount of cash.


He was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Alexander County Jail on $1 million bond.



It was then discovered that the illegal alien was wanted in two other counties for sex crimes against children.


Yanez-Basquez has also been charged with kidnapping, statutory rape, two counts of first-degree sex offense (victim under 13), and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He is currently being held at the Rowan County Jail on $700,000 bond.



*Yanez-Basquez also has a criminal record in California, and at the time of his arrest in North Carolina, he was actually free on $100,000 bond.
