On June 11, Jose Tomas Pedro, 21, was taken into custody by deputies with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, after it was reported that the suspect provided alcohol to an underage girl and raped her while she was incapacitated.
Investigators have not released the girl's exact age at this time.
The Gainesville Times reported:
“According to the initial investigation, the victim met Pedro through interactions on social media. A relative of Pedro drove him to pick the victim up in her neighborhood and dropped the two off at Pedro’s residence on Georgia Avenue where he provided her alcohol and sexually assaulted her during the early morning hours of May 31,” Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth wrote in an email.
A few hours after the assault took place, deputies interviewed the victim at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where she was being treated for her injuries.
Pedro has been charged with rape and providing alcohol to a minor. He is currently being held on an ICE detainer at the Hall County Jail.
