GARNER, NC - On Friday, deputies arrested Alexander Leon Herrera, 18, after he reportedly stabbed a young man to death during a robbery at a convenience store earlier that day.
Shortly after 5:00 p.m. Johnston County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Murphy's Express Gas Station on North Carolina Highway 42, where they discovered the lifeless body of the clerk, 19-year-old William Hayden Fitzpatrick.
He had been stabbed multiple times, according to court documents.
Herrera was tracked down with the help of the K-9 unit, and taken into custody.
Herrera was charged with murder, first-degree kidnapping and robbery with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held at the Johnston County Jail without bond.
