KNOXVILLE, TN - On May 10, police pulled over Mario Diaz, 24, after they captured his vehicle on radar going 111 miles per hour, according to court documents.
The stop took place on I-40, shortly after midnight.
Diaz told officers the reason he was traveling at well over 100 mph was his need to use the bathroom.
A police report states the officer observed a woman, identified as Diaz’s girlfriend, holding their one-year-old daughter unrestrained while sitting in the front seat of the vehicle. The woman told police she was breastfeeding the child on the way to their hotel.
Diaz was charged with felony reckless endangerment, driving without license and driving without insurance. He is currently being held at the Knox County Jail on an ICE detainer.
