COBB COUNTY, GA - On Thursday, police in Marrieta arrested Brayan Segura, 15, after he admitted to stabbing a 14-year-old girl to death, as part of an MS-13 gang initiation.
A day earlier, the victim's boyfriend called police to report that his girlfriend was missing.
A few hours later, the badly mutilated body of Janina Valenzuela was discovered in a creek near The Arbors at East Cobb apartment complex in Marrieta.
“Said accused, knowing victim was already deceased and the whereabouts of her remains, concealed the victim’s death and the whereabouts of her remains by continuously lying to the police during the course of their investigation," according to court documents.
Segura was charged with malice murder, aggravated assault, concealing the death of another as well as gang charges. He is currently being held at the Cobb County Jail on an ICE detainer.
Authorities have confirmed that the Salvadoran national will be tried as an adult.
