HARNETT COUNTY, NC - On August 13, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) investigators informed the Harnett County Sheriff's Office that child pornographic images were being distributed electronically from Cameron, North Carolina.
Further investigation determined that the images which depicted the rape of a baby, were emanating from electronic devices traced back to Ivan Velez, 23, according to court documents.
Velez has been charged with three counts of statutory rape and three counts of sexual exploitation of a 1-year-old. He is currently being held at the Harnett County Detention Center on a $3 million bond.
Though deputies report that the victim is known to Velez, but they have not divulged the nature of his connection to her at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, and more charges may soon be filed.
