Convicted Child Rapist Re-Arrested In Arizona, Only 19 Days After Being Deported

TUCSON, AZ - While patrolling the desert south of Arivaca, agents tracked and encountered eight individuals near the international border. During field processing, agents discovered one Mexican national in the group was a convicted felon.

Ivan Maldonado, 27, was convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a minor in San Joaquin County, California, in 2016. Maldonado was sentenced to six years in prison for the offense and was removed from the United States on May 22, 2020.

Maldonado remains in custody, pending prosecution for reentry of a previously removed felon.
