Suspect In 2008 'Sanctuary City' Murder Extradited Back From Mexico

PORTLAND, OR – On Saturday, Cristobal Medrano-Alvarado, 33, who was wanted for murder, was handed over to U.S. authorities. He was located in Mexico, several months ago, by the FBI.


The Mexican national has been on the run for the murder of 35-year-old Abel Delgado-Morales, 35, since November 2008.


Medrano-Alvarado and another man, Jose Carvajal-Mota, reportedly broke into the victim's apartment and shot him to death, according to court documents.


At the time of the murder, all three worked for a gutter company, and all were in the country illegally.


Carvajal-Mota, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, received and 11-year sentence, and was deported.
