Report: African Migrant Was Free On Bond When She Killed Her 5-Year-Old Daughter

WOODBURY, MN – On Wednesday, police found a grisly scene when they were called to the 400 block of Lake View Alcove, to reports of a woman chasing a child through the neighborhood. That child turned out to be the woman's 6-year-old son, who suffered a broken arm during the attack.

But, what they discovered next was unimaginable, a 5-year-old girl lying in a pool of blood with a stick, apparently used to beat the child lying next to her unresponsive, nearly lifeless body.

The girl suffered a fractured skull, a lacerated liver, bruising over her entire body, a rib fracture and multiple brain bleeds, was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul and underwent emergency surgery.

The girl later died.

The mother of the two children, Sadiyo Ibrahim Mohamed, 32, was approached by officers, as she was “staring off into the distance,” and muttering words in a “non-English language,” according to police.

She reportedly slipped out of her handcuffs in the backseat of the police cruiser and tried to escape.

When Mohamed, who has a history of mental health issues, appeared in court on Friday, she told the judge: “What kids are you talking about? I don’t have no kids. What is going on?”

She was originally charged with attempted murder.

Washington County Attorney's Office Criminal Division Chief, Siv Mjanger told the court that her ex-husband is currently back home in Somalia, and that Mohamed presented an extreme "flight risk," and should be forced to surrender her passport.

The Pioneer Press reported:

Mohamed has a felony assault case pending in Ramsey County from a Dec. 9, 2020, incident at an apartment complex on Tedesco Street in St. Paul. According to the criminal complaint, Mohamed allegedly tried to strangle her father with a cord from a heating pad, causing him to “drift out of consciousness.” Mohamed also allegedly hit her mother “in the head with a black pot and several objects,” the complaint states.
Woodbury records released Friday said that police had been called to Mohamed’s house eight times since January.

Her son and an 18-month-old daughter have been placed into foster care.

Mohamed has been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. She is currently being held at the Washington County Jail on $1 million bond.
