Previously Deported Illegal Alien Tried To Take Rifle From Texas National Guard Soldier On Border

WESLACO, TX - On Monday, Texas Rangers arrested Ricardo Jaime-Ruiz, 45, after he tried to wrestle a rifle away from a Texas National Guard soldier.

The incident took place around 4:00 a.m., while the soldier was assisting U.S. Border Patrol agents in capturing a group of illegal aliens near Bentsen Palm Community Park in Mission, TX.

The Texas Department of Public Safety issued the following statement:

The soldier attempted to capture a suspected male illegal immigrant who had fled law enforcement. The soldier issued verbal commands to the suspect, but he failed to comply. The suspect then grabbed the soldier's M-4 rifle with both hands in an attempt to seize the weapon for himself. The soldier in capturing a group was able to maintain possession of his weapon, and the suspect was apprehended with assistance from other National Guard soldiers.

Jaime-Ruiz was charged with taking a weapon from an officer and is currently being held at the Hidalgo County Jail on an ICE detainer.

The illegal alien was actually deported back to Mexico a few years ago, after being convicted of a felony.
