SUNNYVALE, CA – On Monday, police arrested Jorge Perez Diaz, 32, after he reportedly broke into a woman's home and attempted to rape her at knifepoint.
Around 4 a.m., Saturday, the illegal alien slipped into the home through a sliding glass door, and climbed on top of the woman as she slept, placing a knife to her throat, according to court documents.
The woman awoke and began fighting with Diaz, who she recognized as one of the house painters, hired by a contractor performing recent renovations on her home.
She started screaming, which awakened her 13-year-old daughter, who came running into the room, and managed to fight off the attacker.
The victim was repeatedly punched in the head, suffered several stab wounds and bites, as Diaz attacked her, and required extensive surgery from the wounds. He also bit her several times, while trying to rape her, a police report stated.
Diaz likely has other victims in the area.
The Mercury News reported:
[Sunnyvale Police Capt. Craig] Anderson said that the investigation into the weekend attack also revealed that Diaz was the subject of a suspicious-circumstance report in San Jose from May, alleging that while he was working at another home occupied by a single woman, he closed a bedroom door to isolate her, prompting her to flee the residence.
“To us, we’re not thinking this is the first time he’s done something like this,” Anderson said.
Diaz has been charged with assault with the intent to commit rape, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, making criminal threats and burglary. He is currently being held at the Elmwood Men's Facility, in the Santa Clara County Jail system on $500,000 bail.
