In a press release, U.S. Customs and Border Protection stated:

Record checks revealed the man, a Mexican national, Jose Vega-Santos, was previously convicted for aggravated indecent liberties of a child in Kansas City, Missouri in 2009 and deported in 2017.

His victim was an 11-year-old girl.

Vega-Santos is facing a charge of felony re-entry after deportation, and if convicted, could receive up to 20 years in federal prison.
