Man Caught Smuggling Nearly 30 Illegal Aliens In Texas

LAREDO, TX - On Tuesday, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended Dartavious Raytrell Dixon, 24, the driver of a tractor-trailer, suspected of human smuggling.

A trooper working Operation Lone Star on mile marker 30 of Interstate 35 spotted a white tractor traveling north on the west access road, circumventing the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint. The trooper tried to pull over the vehicle for operating without a registration insignia.
When the vehicle stopped, the driver quickly ran east into the brush. Further inspection of the vehicle resulted in the apprehension of 28 migrants who had crossed the border illegally, according to an arrest affidavit.

All of the illegal aliens were handed over to the Border Patrol for processing.

Dixon was charged with 27 counts of smuggling of a person, one count of smuggling of a person under 18 and evading arrest. He is currently being held at the Webb County Jail on $156,000 bail.
