West Virginia Is Now A ‘Virtual Border State’

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WVVA) – A man living and Greenbrier County and another living in Raleigh County have been found guilty of illegal immigration. Both men have prior deportations.

Honduran national Luis Figueroa-Zuniga, 44, was found in Ronceverte, WV on February 1 after ICE agents received a tip that he was working a local restaurant. Figueroa-Zuniga was previously removed from the U.S. in 2005.

Mexican national Samuel Hernandez-Hernandez, 31, was located in Beaver, WV on January 22. He was deported back in 2015 and 2016.

The crisis on the border is exacerbated by illegal entrants repeatedly being deported only to come back again,” said United States Attorney Mike Stuart. “We’re spending considerable taxpayer dollars and prosecutors’ time on illegal reentry cases that reduce the time we have to prosecute other crimes. This is a growing problem.”

Both men are scheduled to be sentenced on July 10.
