NASHVILLE, TN (WZTV) – An illegal immigrant from Mexico is again facing federal charges out of Davidson County after being deported from the U.S. twice follow crimes in the midstate area.
Angel Daniel-Garcia, 35, of Mexico was indicted Wednesday on charges of being an aggravated felon who illegally re-entered the United States after having been previously deported, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm.
The new charges stem from an incident on Sept. 10 in which Daniel-Garcia was found in possession of a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol. He’s also facing felony drug and gun charges from a shooting in Davidson County that same day.
Daniel-Garcia was deported in 2010 after authorities said he brandished a gun during two gas station robberies on Murfreesboro Road in Nashville. Court records show that he then reentered the U.S. where he was charged and convicted in federal court of being an aggravated felon who illegally entered the U.S. after previously being deported. He was sentenced to 27 months in prison in 2015 and deported after his sentence.
If convicted, Daniel-Garcia faces up to 40 years in prison.
