EAGLE PASS, TX – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass Station arrested a Mexican national, convicted of rape who had been previously deported.
“Apprehensions like this help keep our families and communities safe,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Rodolfo Karisch.
On Jan. 3, Antonio Beltran-Ayala, a Mexican national, was apprehended by Eagle Pass Border Patrol agents patrolling near a local ranch. During processing, agents discovered that in 2006, Beltran-Ayala had been convicted of felony rape of a victim under 18 years of age in Gooding, Idaho. Beltran-Ayala was sentenced to one to four years incarceration for his conviction of rape and subsequently removed from the U.S. Beltran-Ayala was deported on two other occasions in 2014 and 2015.
Beltran-Ayala faces a charge of illegal re-entry after deportation – 8 USC § 1326 – which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, and his prior order of removal will be reinstated.
