ASHEBORO, NC (The Courier-Tribune) – The man suspected to have intentionally set a house on fire Sunday has been identified by the Asheboro Police Department.
Pedro Depaz, 26, is wanted for first degree arson.
The Asheboro Fire Department, along with the Asheboro Police Department, responded to a residential fire at 533 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, at approximately 7:45 p.m.
According to Lt. Col. Mark Lineberry, multiple witnesses reported and named Depaz as the suspect whom they say threw gasoline on the side of the structure. He then ignited the fire with a lighter and fled the scene on foot.
At least four occupants were inside the house when it was set on fire. All escaped without injury.
Damage from the fire was mainly contained to the exterior of the building.
Investigators learned that Depaz was once a neighbor of the residents whose house he allegedly set on fire. He formerly resided at 529 Sunset Avenue.

*Depaz was arrested in February for simple assault, communicating threats, according to the Asheboro Police Department.
