VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Late Wednesday night, police pulled over Jeisson Florez-Zarte, 43, during the stop it was determined that he had been driving well over the legal limit and was charged with a DUI.
Though the Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office (VBSO) booking log clearly states that Florez-Zarte is a "citizen" of the "Republic of Colombia," he was given a $2,500 bond and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has apparently not been notified of the arrest.
A call to the VBSO this afternoon, confirmed that the illegal alien can be released as soon as he makes bail.
Of course, in 2007, it came to light that the city of Virginia Beach was indeed a 'sanctuary city' after two teen girls (Tessa Tranchant and Alison Kunhardt) were killed by Mexican national Alfredo Ramos, who, although having a long history of arrests in the resort city, had never been reported for deportation.
Since then, Virginia Beach officials have claimed that the city has changed its policy to prevent another such tragedy, but the facts often prove otherwise.
How many people will have to be killed before the political leadership of Virginia Beach remembers their oaths of office and begins to actually defend the residents of that city?
