Man Who Admitted To Killing Woman On NYC Subway Is Haitian Immigrant

NEW YORK CITY, NY - On January 15, police arrested Simon Martial, 61, after he reportedly shoved a woman off of a subway platform into the path of an oncoming train in Manhattan.

The victim, Michelle Alyssa Go, 40, is yet the latest victim in a string of unprovoked, deadly attacks on Asians in New York City.

Martial has been arrested at least three times in the city, over the last several years…

-In 1998, he was arrested and convicted of robbery -In 2017, he was arrested and convicted of attempted robbery -In 2019, while awaiting trial, he was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance

Under questioning, he readily admitted to killing the young woman, according to police.

When being walked out of the Midtown South police precinct, Martial shouted to reporters “Go f— yourself…“Yeah because I’m God. Yes I did. I’m God, I can do it.

The New York Post reported:

A woman who identified herself as Martial’s sister, Josette, said he has a history of mental illness.
“He’s been on medication for over 20 years and in and out of mental hospitals in New York,” the woman said.
She said her brother, who is originally from Haiti, once managed a parking lot in the Big Apple “making good money.”

Martial has been charged with second-degree murder, and is currently being held at Bellevue Hospital’s Prison Ward.

His next court date is set for February 23.
