LEXINGTON, NC - On May 2, police arrested Saveun Chhit, 46, following an investigation into accusations that he had raped a child to whom he is related.
During the course of their investigation, police obtained a DNA sample from the suspect.
Chhit repeatedly sexually assaulted the victim for at least two years, from Jan. 1, 2018 to Jan. 1, 2020, according to court documents.
The victim is a 10-year-old girl.
Chhit was charged with two counts of first-degree statutory rape, two counts of incest and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child. He is currently being held at the Davidson County Jail $500,000 bond.
Chhit came to this country from Cambodia.
