OCALA, FL – On Friday, Mijail S. Koshenskov, 32, was transported to the Marion County Jail, after completing his sentence in Alachua County, for fleeing and eluding police, grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting an officer, and a third or subsequent offense of driving on a suspended license.
The Russian national was found guilty and sentenced for those offenses on December 18, 2019.
The Ocala Post reported:
On September 19, 2019, officers responded to Scott Springs Park in reference to a stolen vehicle out of Alachua County. Upon arrival, Officer Paz saw a male suspect, later identified as Mijail Koshenskov, sitting inside the vehicle.
Officer Paz approached the vehicle with his gun drawn and instructed Koshenskov to exit the vehicle, which he refused to do.
According to reports, Officer Paz then opened the driver’s side door, at which time Koshenskov started the vehicle. At that time, Officer Paz reached inside the vehicle and grabbed Koshenskov and attempted to drag him from the vehicle. Koshenskov then put the vehicle in reverse and began dragging Officer Paz.
A second officer on the scene, Sgt. Fried, attempted to help Officer Paz and was struck by the vehicle door as the suspect reversed the vehicle.
Koshenskov fled and a high-speed chase ensued, with speeds reaching more than 100 miles per hour. The illegal alien eventually crossed into Alachua County, where sheriff's deputies deployed stop sticks to disable the vehicle.
After a 35-mile chase, the stolen vehicle finally came to a stop on Williston Road, where Koshenskov bailed out and ran into the woods. He was captured by a K-9 officer after a brief chase.
Koshenskov is now being held in the Marion County Jail without bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled for September 26, where he will be formally arraigned on two counts of aggravated battery on a police officer, fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, and driving without a license.
The Russian man also has an outstanding warrant from Miami, according to police.
Here's where the story gets more interesting...
A simple records check revealed that Koshenskov is not only registered to vote in Florida, but is also a registered Democrat.
Again, Koshenskov is in the country illegally.
