FARMVILLE, NC - On Thursday, a jury found Santos Anselmo, 53, guilty of attempted first-degree murder for the 2019 attack on his ex-girlfriend, Francisca Jimenez-Rosario.
On June 23, 2019, Anselmo arrived at her home and began slashing her with a machete.
The gruesome attack left Jimenez-Rosario with lacerations to her skull, severed tendons in her leg, cuts across her face and hands and two broken wrists.
The illegal alien was angry that she was living with another man.
The Reflector reported:
Mark Freeman, a juror in the case, said following the trial that the evidence overwhelmingly proved guilt.
“With that much force and that much intent, it is hard to just dismiss that,” Freeman said. “If that had been your mother or your wife that would have been a heartbreaking situation. You look in the mirror every day and are reminded of what happened to you. That to me, that is cruel and unusual punishment right there.”
Pitt County Superior Court Judge Jeff Foster sentenced Anselmo to between 13 and 16 years in prison. Upon completion of his sentence, he should be deported.
