FREDERICK, MD – On Monday, police arrested Maria Gloria Vazquez-Mebo, 35, after finding the lifeless body of an elderly woman with head trauma in a house at North Bentz Street, a day earlier.
Vazquez-Mebo who works as a caretaker for the 81-year-old victim's husband, claimed the woman fell down the stairs.
FOX 5 DC reported:
Police said the victim was dead when they arrived and had severe head injuries. The next day, police said Vazquez-Mebo told them that after the victim had fallen down the stairs, she appeared seriously injured. Investigators said she went on to confess that she retrieved a rolling pin and hit the woman multiple times in the head.
Police have yet to release a motive for the crime.
Vazquez-Mebo has been charged with first and second-degree murder and is being held at the Frederick County Detention Center on an ICE detainer.
