Mexicans Caught Running Illegal Gambling Operation In Texas

HIDALGO COUNTY, TX (CBS 4 News) – In a multi-agency effort, authorities executed a search warrant at a home in Palmhurst where more than 50 illegal gambling machines were found and three people were arrested.

When investigators arrived, 15 people were found inside the home located at the 4400 block of N. Stewart Road.

Authorities seized 55 gambling machines, two firearms, and about $2,759 in cash, according to a news release from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the news release, three suspects managing the business were arrested and charged with the following:

Sergio Manuel Hernandez, 31.

Engaging in organized criminal activity
Possession of gambling device/equipment/paraphernalia
Promotion of gambling
Keeping a gambling place

His bond was set at $14,000.

Juan Angel Gomez Perez, 33.

Engaging in organized criminal activity
Possession of gambling device/equipment/paraphernalia
Promotion of gambling
Keeping a gambling place

His bond was set at $14,000.

Raul Ramon Mares, 23.

Engaging in organized criminal activity
Promotion of gambling
Keeping a gambling place

His bond was set at $11,000.

The raid was executed by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Palmhurst Police Department.
