GRAHAM, NC (The News & Record) – The SBI announced the arrest of an Alamance County man Thursday and the seizure of $3.2 million of cocaine.
The SBI, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) with the help of the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office searched a home outside Graham city limits Thursday and seized 183 pounds (83 kilograms) of cocaine and $837,460 in cash. Officers arrested an unidentified man described as a Mexican national. He was held on $1 million bail in the Alamance County Detention Center, according to the SBI.
The SBI did not identify the man arrested, but Omar Agustin Mariscal-Rodriguez, 24, 6933 Big Woods Drive, Graham, according to court records, was charged Thursday with trafficking in cocaine and held on $1 million bond. A SBI public information officer did not respond to a request for confirmation Monday afternoon.
Mariscal-Rodriguez does not appear to have been arrested in North Carolina before or faced federal charges. He is scheduled to appear in court again in November.
