Jamaican National Wanted For Child Sexual Assault Caught In North Carolina

Fayetteville, NC (WRAL) – A man wanted on sex charges dating to 2012 was in jail in Cumberland County Monday after an arrest that included law enforcement officers and bounty hunters from two counties.

Vinton John Huntley Nation, 30, is charged with statutory rape, indecent liberties with a child and sexual battery along with drug and fraud charges.

A group of Fayetteville-area Army veterans who find fugitives under the name B.E.A.S.T. (Bail Enforcement Apprehension & Surveillance Team) claimed credit for getting Nation into custody.

We had to jump in a freezing cold river to get him as he was running from us, but it was definitely worth it,” agents posted to the B.E.A.S.T. Fugitive Recovery Facebook page.

B.E.A.S.T. co-owner Brandon Anderson said agents spotted Nation on a patio.

“As soon as he seen us, he started running through the woods in the backyard. On the other side of those woods was a flowing stream. That’s were he jumped in, and we got pretty close to him, and we jumped in the water after him, and we were able to apprehend him,” Anderson said.

B.E.A.S.T. also praised two individuals and thanked Bad Boyz Bail Bonds, based in Fayetteville, and DJ’s Bail Bonds, based in Raleigh.

Agents said they tracked Nation by watching his family, who live in Moore County, and noticed them making trips to Fayetteville.

Neighbors on Summer Ridge Road said Nation had lived among them for about a year, and that they had no idea that he was a wanted man.

Nation was transferred Monday to Moore County jail, where he was being held on $200,000 bond.

A Jamaican citizen, Nation has a green card to be in the United States. Should be be convicted of the charges he faces, he would face deportation.
