A 21-year-old man wanted in connection with the death of a Siler City man who disappeared has been found shot to death in Randolph County.
Francisco Antonio Rivas was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds Friday near Highway 421 and Shiloh Road near Julian and Liberty. Randolph County deputies identified Rivas’ remains Tuesday and said Rivas was in an advanced stage of decomposition.
Rivas, also known as Francisco Rivas Galves-Huezo, was wanted on charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the death of Esau Abraham Brenes.
The remains of Brenes, 25, were found Oct. 24 off Siler City Snow Camp Road in Chatham County after a three-week search. Galves-Huezo was charged in Brenes’ death five days later.
Galves-Huezo was reported missing Oct. 24 in Siler City, Randolph County deputies said.
No other information has been released. The investigation continues.
