ASHEBORO, NC (The Courier-Tribune) – A man was arrested after deputies were called to the scene of an assault Thursday.
According to a press release, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Staley Farm Road area in reference to a family fight.
Deputies were met at the front door by the offender, identified as Carlos Arturo Nunez Turcio, 32, of 3210 Staley Farm Road, Asheboro.
Nunez Turcio stated he did not speak English and refused to fully open the door to the residence.
The female victim, who also did not speak English, came to the door. Nunez Turcio would not allow her to speak and she attempted to push past him.
The victim tried to make a phone call for an interpreter, but Nunez Turcio grabbed the cell phone from her hands.
He was detained in order for the deputies to continue their investigation.
Nunez Turcio was charged with felony assault by strangulation, assault inflicting serious injury with a minor present and interference with emergency communication.
He is being held at the Randolph County Jail under no bond.
