CHARLOTTE, NC (WCNC) – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged a man with murder after a woman was found dead in an east Charlotte home Sunday morning.
At around 3 a.m., officers were dispatched to a suicide threat call in the 6400 block of Woodbend Drive, off Farm Pond Lane. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man, identified as Miguel A. Hernandez, 45, suffering from what appeared to be self-inflicted knife wounds. They also found a female victim, 43-year-old Maria Rocha dead from apparent knife wounds.
Police say Hernandez was taken to CMC with life-threatening injuries, where he is now in stable condition. Upon his release from the hospital, Hernandez will be transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder.
Investigators say that Hernandez and Rocha were involved in a relationship and this was not a random act of violence.
