Illegal Alien Shot Motorist In North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, NC (WRAL) – The man wanted in a Moncure shooting that injured another man was arrested early Wednesday morning in Chapel Hill after a lengthy manhunt.

Angel Soto, 27, was taken into custody just before 2 a.m. at the Pine Gate apartment complex, according to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with one county of felony attempted murder, one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and one count of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

Soto was jailed under a $475,000 secured bond.

Kassidy Lowe was with Soto when he was arrested, and authorities said she was questioned but isn’t considered a suspect in the case.

Authorities on Tuesday asked for the public’s help in finding Soto after responding to a shooting in the 1100 block of Charlie Brooks Road in Moncure. Deputies found Jacob Hinson, 21, with a gunshot wound, and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The sheriff’s office said Soto and Lowe left the scene of the shooting before law enforcement arrived. Authorities did not comment on the relationship between the two but said Soto and Hinson know each other.

This was a high-risk situation that was fortunately resolved peacefully and without further injury to anyone involved or the public,” Chatham County Sheriff Mike Roberson said. “This situation was rapidly evolving and covered multiple jurisdictional areas. Therefore it required a rapid, coordinated response from law enforcement.”
