MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ (The Daily Caller) – Immigration and Customs Enforcement informed The Daily Caller Tuesday that a man arrested last week for allegedly sexually assaulting and robbing several young girls is an illegal immigrant.
Daniel Omar Mejia-Reyes, 27, was arrested in Long Branch, N.J., last Wednesday after attacking three girls, ages 12, 14 and 16, in one afternoon, according to a criminal complaint obtained by TheDC.
According to the complaint, Mejia-Reyes grabbed the 14-year-old victim “and attempted to drag her away from her location, while grabbing her vagina, and making lewd sexual comments.”
He allegedly took the 12-year-old’s cellphone and touched her genitalia. He also committed robbery by the use of force by shaking the 16-year-old’s shoulders and taking an iPhone 5s from the victim’s hand, according to the complaint.
A school bus aide told News 12 New Jersey that he witnessed two of the incidents while dropping students off after school.
“He was pulling her. I don’t know what his intentions was but it looked like it was bad,” the aide told News 12.
He said he brought one of the victims onto the bus after the attack.
“All of a sudden we see another attack,” the aide said. “He was pulling her and pulling her. Now this girl was like screaming ‘Help! Help!’”
Mejia-Reyes is being held without bond at Monmouth County Correctional Facility and is being charged with two counts of robbery, one count of kidnapping, one count of aggravated sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual contact, plus four other charges.
ICE issued an immigration detainer for Mejia-Reyes as he is in the country illegally.
