PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) – A Philadelphia man was sentenced to 22-to-44 years in prison on Monday, after being convicted for a rape he committed near Rittenhouse Square in 2014.
28-year-old Milton Mateo-Garcia pleaded no-contest in November to charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, kidnapping, and burglary.
Garcia attacked the 26-year-old victim in June of 2014, fleeing with the victim’s phone that was then used to track and find Garcia in his South Philadelphia residence.
“Milton Garcia does not belong on the streets and, as a result of today’s sentencing, he won’t be anymore,” said District Attorney Seth Williams on Monday.
NBC 10 reported:
A Honduran national, Garcia was removed from the United States in June 2013, according U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) division. The agency has lodged a detainer against the man to ensure they’re notified before he’s released from custody.
