NASHVILLE, TN (Fox 17) – An illegal immigrant and MS-13 member has been convicted of assaulting a federal witness, distributing cocaine, and firearm violations in Nashville.
According to the U.S. State Attorney’s Office, Gerson Serrano-Ramirez of El Salvador was asked to stop disrupting the business of a nightclub in 2017. He then invited the person who made the request to his Antioch home where Serrano-Ramirez assaulted the man.
During the assault, Serrano-Ramirez pointed a rifle at the man then strangled him with the rifle strap, sprayed bleach into his eyes, and attempted to suffocate the man with a plastic bag. In addition, Serrano-Ramirez clamped the man’s finger with a pair of pliers while holding the rifle on him, ordering the man to not tell anyone of the assault or he would kill the man and his mother.
During trial, video taken from Seranno-Ramirez’ home showed him packaging and selling cocaine. Investigators also seized an AK-47, 582 rounds of ammunition, body armor and small amounts of cocaine and marijuana.
Serrano-Ramirez faces 30 years to life in prison. He will be sentenced on January 28, 2019.
