GARNER, NC – Wake County sheriff’s deputies seized more than 2 pounds of methamphetamine Thursday and charged a Raleigh man with trafficking in the drug.
Ariel Abeja-Navarro, 33, of 220 Minuet Place was arrested after deputies stopped his 2006 Ford Explorer at U.S. 70 and Vandora Springs Road in the late morning, records showed. The arrest was about four miles from his home.
According to an arrest warrant, Abeja-Navarro has 1,028.5 grams of the drug, which is about 2.3 pounds.
Abeja-Navarro was charged with two counts of trafficking in methamphetamine – one each for possession and transporting a drug. He also was charged with maintaining the Explorer to keep and sell an illegal substance.
The sheriff’s office said the arrest was the result of an ongoing drug investigation.
A magistrate set Abeja-Navarro’s bail at $750,000, and he was scheduled for a Friday appearance before a judge.
