WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Jaime Hermino Mariche-Cortez, 18, of Chestnut Street was charged with three counts of breaking and entering a vehicle, three counts of malicious injury to property, possession of burglary tools, and possession of stolen goods, Winston-Salem police said.
Officers responded about 3:45 a.m. to a report of a man walking away from a vehicle that was damaged near 601 N. Chestnut St., police said. A few moments later, officers received information about a man looking into vehicles in the parking deck at the corner of West 5th Street and Research Parkway.
Police then found a man walking out of the parking deck who matched the description of a person seen near the damaged vehicle, police said. Officers later discovered that three vehicles had been broken into, and a fourth vehicle and two buildings had been defaced, police said.
Mariche-Cortez has been released from the Forsyth County Jail after posting a $10,000 bond, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said. He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 11.
