Queens, NYC – Police on Wednesday arrested the man who allegedly burned his girlfriend to death in their Queens apartment in October.
Miriam Velez-Samayoa, 28, was found burned in the bathtub of the Jamaica apartment she shared with her unemployed boyfriend and several other immigrants on Saturday, Oct. 17, said cops and witnesses. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police found her body when they responded to a 911 report of an assault at the third-floor apartment, on 90th Avenue near 148th Street.
Velez-Samayoa’s body had been doused in fuel, and cops found a gas canister in the bedroom.
Her boyfriend, Carlos Leon Pineda, 27, was arrested and charged with murder, arson, reckless endangerment and tampering with physical evidence.
Velez-Samayoa’s brother-in-law, Roberto Castro, 32, told The Post the day of the incident that the couple met a few months before on Facebook.
