DALLAS, TX – Police in Dallas arrested a man Friday night for pointing a laser at the department’s helicopter.
Gabriel Gonzales is currently jailed on an INS hold.
Police say an officer was doing a roof check after a business alarm went off in the 300 block of St. Augustine Drive when somebody pointed a green laser at the aircraft. In an arrest report, police say the laser impaired the officer’s vision for about four seconds.
The officer was able to guide ground patrols to the location where the laser was pointed.
Upon their arrival, police found Gonzales, along with several others, in an alleyway. According to the report, while all in the group originally denied pointing the laser, Gonzales eventually confessed, pulling the laser from a front pocket.
Three years ago, a Dallas man was sentenced to prison for the same crime.
