GASTONIA, NC (The Gaston Gazette) – A man charged with first-degree kidnapping and attempted murder made his first appearance in Cleveland County Court on Tuesday.
Luciano Flores, 21, of 130 W. Warren St., Shelby, is accused of kidnapping his girlfriend, Deanna Leigh Toney, at gun point around 10 p.m. Saturday at his home, according to reports from the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.
He received a $100,000 secure bond Tuesday during his court appearance. Flores also faces an attempted murder charge in the shooting of Daniel Ledezma, his cousin, in Gaston County on Saturday. Flores is due to make his first appearance in Gaston County Court on Wednesday.
Flores allegedly discovered that Toney and Ledezma were having a relationship and forced Toney to call Ledezma to meet up Saturday, according to law enforcement. Flores allegedly held Toney at gun point and had her drive him to the scheduled meeting place, the Grab N Go parking lot at 1721 Bessemer City Road, Gastonia, according to reports from the Sheriff’s Office.
“She stated she heard gun shots as she drove away,” Lt. S. Ledbetter said in an interview Monday.
Ledezma was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia on Saturday with non-life threatening injures, according to Gastonia Police reports. He is no longer listed as a patient at the hospital.
Flores turned himself in around 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sheriff’s Office. He is currently in Cleveland County Jail awaiting his next court date.
