LEXINGTON, NC (The Winston-Salem Journal) – A Lexington man is facing a dozen sex-related charges, including human trafficking, after an investigation.
Angel Rey Andaverde, 24, of the 500 block of Moore Drive, is charged with three counts each of statutory sex offense and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two counts each of statutory rape, human trafficking and indecent liberties with a child.
The charges involve a 13-year-old female, who told officials that on several occasions she was taken to a place in Lexington and was given illegal drugs, then had sexual encounters with Andaverde, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said.
Their investigation began Aug. 15, when they received a report of a possible sex offense. The 13-year-old was seen at The Dragonfly House Child Advocacy Center.
Detectives conducted an investigation and ultimately arrested Andaverde on Thursday, the sheriff’s office said. He was jailed with bail set at $5 million.
The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation.
