GREEN CREEK TOWNSHIP (The News-Messenger) – A Fremont man faces two first-degree felony rape charges after a woman alleged he sexually assaulted her over the weekend.
Isaac Cruz, 24, was arrested when Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a home at 1:23 a.m. Saturday on County Road 212.
Cruz was also charged with domestic violence after he allegedly shoved the woman who claimed he sexually assaulted her, according to Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office Major Nick Kotsopoulos.
Evidence was collected at the scene and while questioning Cruz, Kotsopoulos said the 24-year-old made statements that corroborated what the alleged victim said.
The arrest marks the third such sexual assault case the department has handled this month.
Kotsopoulos said the cases are not related, though he said it is concerning to see a spike in sexual assault cases in the county.
Cruz is being held without bond at the Sandusky County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court’s temporary quarters at Terra State Community College.
