Illegal Alien Stabbed 16-Year-Old Girl To Death In New Jersey

LONG BRANCH, NJ (News 12) – Police continue to investigate after a teenage girl was fatally stabbed in Long Branch Saturday night.

Officials say they were called to the 200 block of Van Pelt Place 10:45 p.m. where they found a 16-year-old girl had been stabbed. The girl was rushed to Monmouth Medical Center where she was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Bryan Cordero-Castro, of Long Branch, is in custody and has been charged with murder.

The 20-year-old is an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Authorities would not confirm the identity of the victim, but family members identified the 16-year-old as Madison Wells.

Her cousin remembered Wells as warm and friendly, and able to make anyone in a room smile.

Wells had been living in Florida, and lost her mother, Michelle Yurko, four years ago. The cousin said Michelle was striving for a better life and trying to make something of herself.

*Cordero-Castro has been charged with first-degree murder charges, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose charges, and third-degree attempted escape charges.

Madison’s family has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for the teen’s funeral costs.
